THE FOUNDATION

The Imagine for Margo – Children without Cancer Foundation was created in 2017 under the aegis of the Fondation de France. Its aim is to accelerate research against childhood cancer by funding european research programs to promote discoveries and innovations and thus better care for children with cancer.

CHILDREN'S CANCER

Cancer is the leading cause of death of children by disease in Europe: every year 35,000 children are diagnosed with cancer and 6,000 die of it. There are 60 types of cancer, different from adult cancers, making it a rare disease.

1 in 440 children develop cancer by the age of 15
1 in 5 children die of his cancer

CHILDREN : FORGOTTEN FROM RESEARCH

European research in oncology is essentially focused on adult cancers, with children’s cancers being more rare and therefore less profitable for the drug industry. Most children with cancer are treated with adult treatments.

2/3 of cured children suffer serious long-term side effects
Between 2011 and 2015, 70 new anti-cancer drugs were approved for adults and only 2 for children
The cure rate of children with cancer has increased very little in 15 years

Children with cancer need specific and adapted treatments. That’s why the Imagine for Margo – Children without Cancer Foundation collects donations to fund European research programs in order to better understand childhood cancers and develop innovative treatments to better treat them.
